Adrien Rabiot hits back after criticism from PSG fans following Marseille move
Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot (29) is currently enjoying a spell of strong performances, both for club and country. The France international has scored a brace during Les Bleus‘ 3-1 away win against Italy in the Nations League. On Saturday, with Marseille running riot in Lens, Rabiot arguably delivered his best performance for Roberto De Zerbi’s Phocéens since his shock move to the Southern Ligue 1 side as a free agent, following the expiry of his Juventus contract.
As a PSG Academy graduate, Rabiot’s switch to the Parisians’ arch-rivals raised some eyebrows within the game, and drew criticism from PSG fans, despite Rabiot’s controversial exit from Les Parisiens in 2019. Then entering his final contract year, Rabiot turned down renewal proposals and was frozen out entirely by PSG for the second half of the 2018-2019 campaign, paving the way for his move to Juventus.
Speaking to TF1, the 29-year-old midfielder didn’t hold back in addressing criticism from PSG fans. “At PSG, nothing has been given to me. When I was frozen out, PSG fans did not stand up for me. The hypocrisy must stop, I was far from being cherished. I can’t accept this disrespect, but I can understand those who were attached to me and who are disappointed.“
