A Tiger Woods miniseries might be coming to your TV soon

After years of personal and professional struggles, Tiger Woods won his fifth Masters in April. With his comeback finally compete, it’s time for the movie ... or at least the television series.

A Tiger Woods miniseries is currently in development, according to Deadline. The miniseries is based on a biography of Woods written by Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian.

That book, titled “Tiger Woods,” was released in 2018, and rose to No. 1 on the New York Times Best Sellers Sports and Fitness list.

While it’s unclear what the miniseries will cover, the book begins with Woods’ car accident in 2009 that occurred just as his cheating scandal dominated the headlines.

At the time of the accident, Woods was the No. 1 golfer in the world. He held that position for 281 weeks before Lee Westwood claimed it in October 2010. Woods managed to rise to No. 1 for 60 weeks in 2013, but hasn’t reached that level since.

Woods’ Masters win in April was his biggest professional accomplishment since the scandal. Woods also battled injuries over that period.

The template is there for the Woods miniseries to be a hit if executed well. FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” showed a sports miniseries can work. It received strong reviews in 2016.

While a Woods miniseries may have been considered in the past, his Masters win sealed the deal. If the series is going to start with the car accident that began his fall to the bottom, it’s probably going to end with Woods triumphantly winning the Masters in 2019.
