A bettor at BetMGM is confident in Denny Hamlin's chances of winning Saturday night's race at Martinsville.
Someone has placed a $15,000 bet on Hamlin to win the race at +700. That bet would return $105,000 if Hamlin visits victory lane. Hamlin has five wins in 30 starts at Martinsville but hasn’t won there since the spring of 2015.
That’s not the only five-figure bet on Hamlin either. Someone has $10,000 on Hamlin to finish in the top three. That bet only returns $15,000. Hamlin has finished in the top three at Martinsville 11 times.
Those high-dollar bets on Hamlin are why his odds have shifted from +700 to +500. He’s still the No. 2 favorite behind Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Martin Truex Jr.
Truex’s odds have dropped to +400 from +550.
Nearly 10% of the bets placed at BetMGM are on Hamlin to win the race and nearly 60% of the handle — the total money wagered — is on Hamlin, thanks to that $15,000 bet. Just over 10% of the handle is on Truex while the second-most bet driver to win is Kyle Busch at just over 6%.
Bettors are also liking low-dollar fliers on Daniel Suarez. He’s the 11th-most bet driver to win on 3.6% of tickets, but just 0.5% of the handle is on him to win.
