£54m Man Utd star reacts to Erik ten Hag’s sacking on Instagram with heartfelt plea to fans
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has thanked Erik ten Hag after the manager was sacked earlier today.
Fernandes took to Instagram and asked the fans to remember ‘the good things’ Ten Hag has done at United.
The Portugal international wrote: “Thanks for everything, boss!
“I appreciate the trust and the moments we share together, I wish you all the best in the future”
“Even knowing the last period hasn’t been great from all of us I hope you fans can keep with you the good things the manager has done for our club!”
Fernandes had a good relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and continued his positive connection with Ten Hag.
The Dutchman bestowed the captaincy upon Fernandes last season.
The £54 million-rated star has been impressive since he arrived in 2020 but has failed to deliver this campaign.
In 13 games across all competitions, he has failed to bag a single goal and has only five assists.
He returned to form against West Ham United on Sunday and enjoyed his best 45 minutes of the season.
He created several chances but the poor finishing from Alejandro Garnacho and Diogo Dalot let him down.
The midfielder also had an excellent chance to put United ahead in the first half when Casemiro found him with a fine floated cross.
He was completely unmarked but failed to keep his headed shot on target.
The Red Devils have confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy will be in charge of the team on an interim basis until they hire a new manager.
Edin Terzic, Xavi, Gareth Southgate and Thomas Frank could reportedly replace Ten Hag.
MEN reported that United could also be tempted to return to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer due to the higher cost involved in getting managers who are already appointed elsewhere.
