5 things we learned in the NHL last week: Hertl has the league's best 'lol'

Another week of the NHL season has come and gone, but not without teaching us a few lessons along the way.

Here's a look back at some of the most exciting and/or strange events that caught the attention of hockey fans over the last seven days and what we learned from them.

1. Scoring woes? Just add Eichel

The Buffalo Sabres, dead last in the league in goals scored, are happy to have their young star back.

Jack Eichel suffered a high-ankle sprain that kept him out of action for the first 21 games of the season, but he hasn't shown much rust in his return. The 2015 No. 2 draft pick scored a goal and added an assist in a Sabres win over Ottawa on Tuesday.

The real star of the bit is Hertl's laugh. If you don't crack a smile while listening, well, there are probably some kids on your lawn that need a good talking to.

3. Islanders don't waste time

Did you blink? The Penguins certainly did, and they were down two goals in a matter of three seconds.

4. Don't leave these guys unattended

The old saying "idle hands are the devil's playthings" comes to mind while watching Auston Matthews and Jonathan Toews call their shots during some commercial-shooting downtime.

5. (Sacrif)ice bunting

There were plenty of goals scored in the NHL this week, but two were extra special in the sense that the puck was already airborne before it was whacked into the net.

Sidney Crosby got a little help with his baseball impression, knocking the puck out of mid-air and off the back of the Stars' Antti Niemi:

Not to be outdone, the Devils' Taylor Hall went top corner on Pekka Rinne, thanks to a fluttering rebound:
