FC Barcelona had an impressive pre-season under new coach Hansi Flick with many stars emerging in the initial weeks. The likes of Marc Bernal and Marc Casado have since gone on to become mainstays in the first-team furniture.

Two other players who had incredible pre-seasons with the club were Pau Victor and Pablo Torre. The duo though, are yet to enjoy the same kind of first-team prominence under Hansi Flick and continue to wait for their chance.

For Pablo Torre, the time may be now. Dani Olmo is expected to be out for 4-5 weeks after a hamstring issue. Ferran Torres was sent off against Girona and will not be available for the Villarreal clash in La Liga this weekend.

Ansu Fati has just returned from injury and is unlikely to be ready to start against the Yellow submarine. This gives a good chance for Hansi Flick to choose to start Pablo Torre in the number 10 role unless he decides to continue with the Eric Garcia experiment.

As per SPORT, the €3m-rated midfielder is expected to enjoy a more prominent role under Hansi Flick in the coming weeks and is expected to get more first-team minutes. With games coming thick and fast, the German coach will be forced to rotate his starters.

The likes of Pedri and Marc Casado worked their socks off midweek after seeing Barcelona reduced to 10 men and might not have recovered well enough in time to start this weekend’s clash. Should Flick choose to rest Pedri, Torre could get a run out in the team.

Of course, Barcelona and Flick will want to keep their perfect start to La Liga going but it will not be a surprise to see the German coach rest Pedri and start Torre against Villarreal, with Casado and Eric operating deeper in midfield.

With Fermin also injured for the time being, the opportunity cannot arrive better for Pablo Torre. It is up to him to take it and show Flick that he deserves a more prominent role even after Olmo returns and let’s see how he goes about it.
