Denmark youth international striker Chido Obi-Martin still wants to join Manchester United this summer after leaving Arsenal at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, but there is a problem concerning his agent’s commission, according to German journalist Christopher Michel.

The 16-year-old is a free agent after leaving the Gunners and was seen visiting the Carrington training base last week to discuss a potential summer move to join the Red Devils.

However, Man United are not the only club keen on recruiting the services of Obi-Martin, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund still very much in the race.

The teenage sensation bagged 32 goals and three assists in 20 under-18 Premier League appearances for Arsenal in
2023-24, which drew the attention of the Old Trafford club and others to him.

The Gunners offered him new and improved schoolboy terms as he cannot sign a professional deal in England until he turns 17 in November under the Football Association’s rules, but Obi-Martin has decided to move on and has since taken to social media to say his goodbyes.

He wanted to be guaranteed a pathway to first-team football, but he was not convinced Arsenal were willing to offer him that.

His representatives saw Man United hand chances to the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Willy Kambwala last term, with manager Erik ten Hag never hesitating to hand teenagers and youngsters opportunities as long as they can prove themselves.

The Danish teenage sensation will not be joining the first-team if he agrees a switch to the Theatre of Dreams, but he could soon be knocking on the door if he replicates his form from last term next season at under-23 level.

He was in inspirational form last season, netting five hat-tricks in the final nine games of the Under-18 Premier League season and scoring seven past Norwich City in a nine-goal thumping.

Those heroics convinced Man United to go after him and he could soon establish himself as a first-team star if all goes to plan.
