– Points, points, so many points. This game has high-scoring written all over it since Western Kentucky ranks second in the nation in scoring offense with 45.1 points per game and Memphis ranks 17th with 39.5 points per game. The one thing that could keep this game tame is that none of these defenses gives up a ton of points. Still, both of the offenses like to get downfield, so don’t blink or you might miss a score.

– This game also features two of the nation’s best passing quarterbacks. WKU’s Mike White completed 67.4 percent of his pass attempts for nearly 310 yards, 34 touchdowns and just six interceptions. Memphis’ Riley Ferguson has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for nearly 277 yards per game, 28 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Both of these teams have decent running games, but the passing attack is what keeps the offense moving. Look for both teams to throw and throw often.

– While the passing game might be the highlight of the offense, both of these programs dazzle on special teams. Memphis came into the season with the nation’s longest kickoff return for touchdown drought. Tony Pollard broke the drought against Temple in October and the Tigers had three kick returns for touchdowns this season. Not to be outdone, Western Kentucky has three punt returns for touchdowns.

Mascot fight prediction: Memphis is one of the few college programs with a live mascot, so it’s difficult not to give a ferocious tiger the advantage over a big red blob. However, the blob might scare the ever-loving crap out of the tiger because seriously, what is that thing? We’re leaning toward the fear factor here.
