3 Teams That Should Trade For Blackhawks F Taylor Hall
Last week, Taylor Hall talked about wanting to stay with the Chicago Blackhawks. However, he made it clear that he believes he won't be granted his wish. As a pending UFA, it sounds like he knows that he will be traded before the deadline.
What would a team acquiring Hall be getting? He is a former first-overall pick, Hart Trophy winner as league MVP, and NHL All-Star. He isn't as productive as he once was but is still a highly skilled player that would fit in many team's middle-six.
Plenty of contenders will call Kyle Davidson to see what it would take to trade for Hall. They won't be getting this needle-moving return for him but they may be able to get a good asset in the form of a prospect or draft pick.
Of all the teams that could try to make this deal, these are the teams that should be all in on getting it done:
1. Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche are an elite team and they've been playing very well as of late. With future Hall of Famers like Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Mikko Rantanen in the mix, the Avalanche are always going to be looking for help at the deadline.
Hall narrowly beat out MacKinnon for the Hart Trophy in 2018 but the former finally got his name on the trophy in 2024. Now, as teammates, they could do something special.
Hall would fit in well as a depth scorer on that Avalanche team who could use some extra depth as they look to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in four years.
2. Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars are one of the four or five other big threats with the Avalanche in the Western Conference. They have stars of all ages on that team so Taylor Hall would fit right in. Hall isn't the player he once was but fitting into that group would be easy for him based on their roster makeup.
The young players and Matt Duchene carry the load offensively on that team but veterans fill out the lineup and make them good. If there was a guy for them to make a medium-sized trade for, it's Hall.
3. New Jersey Devils
The team that Taylor Hall had the most success with in his NHL career is the New Jersey Devils. That's where he won his Hart Trophy, made the playoffs for the first time, and blossomed into the superstar he had the potential to be when he was the number-one pick.
A long-term contract with them didn't work out and they traded him away but now they could use him back. New Jersey is led by offensive stars like Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, and Timo Meier but their depth leaves a lot to be desired. Hall can help with that.
There is also the familiarity with the organization which might help Hall in his transition to a different team. He'd certainly know that he could go there and find success.
We don't know if Hall is going to be traded before the Four Nations Faceoff in less than a month or if he will make it in Chicago until the deadline. Based on his comments, however, we can be pretty sure that it will happen eventually.
