After an ugly loss to the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 22, the Boston Bruins bounced back in a big way against the Ottawa Senators on Jan. 23. The Bruins defeated their division rival by a 2-0 final score and have jumped up from sixth place to third place in the Atlantic Division.

Let's discuss three main takeaways from the Bruins' win now.

Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo Has Monster Game

Joonas Korpisalo certainly got his revenge against the team that traded him this past summer. The Bruins goaltender stopped all 30 Senators shots he faced for his third shutout of the season.

Korpisalo made several big-time stops against the Senators to secure this shutout and get the Bruins a much-needed win.

Morgan Geekie Stays Hot

Morgan Geekie's play has improved tremendously as this season has rolled on, and this only continued against the Senators. The 26-year-old forward scored the Bruins' first goal, which would be the eventual game-winner.

With this goal, Geekie now has four goals to go along with six points over his last six contests. He also has scored in back-to-back games.

Bruins' Penalty Kill Bounces Back

The Bruins' penalty kill undoubtedly stepped up in this win against the Senators. They killed off all four of the Senators' power play opportunities, and this played a significant role in the win.

When noting that they allowed three power-play goals to the Devils last game, the Bruins' penalty kill bounced back big time in this one.
