3 Possible Trade Destinations for Bruins' Jeremy Swayman
Earlier this week, Bruins president Cam Neely stirred the pot when he insinuated that the Original Six club offered Swayman a $64 million contract. Swayman's agent, Lewis Gross, then released a statement denying that an offer that high was ever sent their way.

Gross also ended his statement by saying: "We are extremely disappointed. This was not fair to Jeremy. We will take a few days to discuss where we go from here."
After all of this, speculation over the prospect of Swayman getting traded has naturally increased. While it is still possible that the Bruins and Swayman can fix things and get a deal done, let's discuss three teams who could target him if he officially requests a trade.
Chicago Blackhawks
If Swayman is made available, the Chicago Blackhawks could be a team to watch. While the Blackhawks are rebuilding, they displayed this off-season that they are looking to take a step forward this upcoming campaign. This was made clear when they signed free agents Tyler Bertuzzi, Teuvo Teravainen, TJ Brodie, Alec Martinez, Laurent Brossoit, and Pat Maroon.
However, while the Blackhawks have Brossoit and Petr Mrazek, Swayman would give them a legitimate long-term star between the pipes for several years to come. Thus, it would not be particularly surprising if they became a suitor for Swayman if he was made available. They also have the assets that could help a move get done.
Colorado Avalanche
Once again, the Colorado Avalanche have a very strong roster heading into the 2024-25 season. They are expected to be one of the NHL's top clubs because of it. However, their biggest question once again is their goaltending. While Alexandar Georgiev is a good goalie, he has struggled with consistency as Colorado's starter. Thus, the Avalanche could look at a player like Swayman for a guaranteed upgrade.
If the Avalanche acquired Swayman, he would make them an even more serious threat in the Western Conference. Thus, if Swayman officially asks for a change of scenery, Colorado is a clear club to watch.
Utah Hockey Club
The Utah Hockey Club had an incredibly busy summer. They added Mikhail Sergachev, John Marino, Ian Cole, and Kevin Stenlund to their roster. It is apparent that they want to be more competitive during their first season in Utah. They also could use a definite starter between the pipes, so Swayman could grab their attention.
Utah is entering the season with Connor Ingram and Karel Vejmelka as their one-two punch in the net. While both goalies have had their strong moments, Swayman would be a significant upgrade for the starter role. In addition, Utah has over $9.9 million of cap space, so they could make a potential move work.
