3 names chosen as finalists for new Habs farm team

The Montreal Canadiens' new farm team in Laval is very close to getting a name.

The Habs held a contest asking the public what they should call the new team which will play at Laval's Place Bell for the 2017-2018 season.

More than 850 entries came in and the top three names have now been selected.

They are: the Laval Rapids, the Laval Patriots and the Laval Rocket.

Rejected names included the Lynx, the Alpha, the Blizzard and the Saints.

The contest wraps up at the end of the month.

The team plays their last season this year in St. John's, N.L., as the IceCaps.
