It has only been a few weeks since the summer transfer window closed, but big clubs across Europe have already started planning their moves for the next winter transfer window. This is also the case for Barcelona, who are already being linked with several players for this upcoming window.

The Catalans have several positions to reinforce in the team. Firstly, the team is particularly short on options in the midfield pivot position, especially as Marc Bernal, who played the first few games of the season as the team’s pivot, is out for the rest of the season.

The Blaugranes also wanted to reinforce their attack in the last window, and might once again be on the lookout for a forward in January. According to Mundo Deportivo, there are two players in Europe being linked with Barcelona for these two positions.

For the midfield, the Catalans are looking for a cheap option in January, and their preferences are leading them to the Netherlands, where they are closely monitoring the PSV Eindhoven midfielder, Jerdy Schouten.

The 27-year-old pivot has a contract till 2028 with PSV and can also play as a center-back. He is also attracting interest from some other European sides.

For the forward position, one of the most attractive options for Barcelona is the former Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood, who is playing for the French side Olympique Marseille this season. He already has five goals in four appearances this season and his performances have reportedly caught the attention of both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The €25m-rated English forward has a contract till 2029, but the Catalans already had been in contact with his agent last season when he was playing in Spain with Getafe. Thus, he has already proven his ability and quality in Spain.

Neither of these options will be cheap, but Barcelona are still keeping them in their sights as they look to strengthen their team this winter.
