2025 Trade Deadline: Charlottetown Adds Import Simek For Pick
In order to clear an import slot for the acquisition of Washington Capitals prospect Eriks Mateiko, the Rimouski Océanic have traded forward Pavel Simek to the Charlottetown Islanders in exchange for 2025 sixth.

Simek, 19, has 13 points (6+7) with the Océanic this year.
The Czech left winger has amassed 80 points (36+44) across his 158 game QMJHL career thus far, between the Saint John Sea Dogs and the Rimouski Océanic.
Simek recently represented Czechia in one game at the 2025 World Juniors in Ottawa, winning bronze with them and scoring a lone goal.
He'll replace the import slot left by Egor Goriunov, who the Isles dealt to the Armada a few weeks ago.
Undrafted to the NHL, it is feasible for Simek to play NCAA hockey given he's only played two games of professional hockey in Czechia -- a number that's been bypassed before. He's uncommitted to any NCAA programs however.
