2025 NFL mock draft: Bears land versatile offensive line in 1st round
The Chicago Bears have a slew of roster needs to address this offseason through free agency and the 2025 NFL draft, but none bigger than the offensive line, a unit that troubled immensely during the 2024 season.
The Bears offensive line was among the worst in the NFL this season, where rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was under constant duress and sacked a franchise-high 68 times (although, not all of those sacks were on the offensive line). Still, looking at this starting group, it's safe to say right tackle Darnell Wright is the only starter guaranteed a spot next season.
General manager Ryan Poles hasn't done a good job allocating resources to build up the offensive line in his three-year tenure, but the hope is he'll finally dedicate resources to shore up the trenches in front of Williams. And that's exactly what he does in this new mock draft from Pro Football Network's Jacob Infante, where Chicago lands a versatile offensive lineman who can start at left tackle or kick inside to guard.
Here's what Pro Football Network had to say:
Though the Bears’ season ended on a high note with an upset victory on the road against the Packers, it’s clear that the current state of their offensive line is not acceptable if they want to give Caleb Williams the absolute best chance to develop.
In this case, I would kick Campbell inside to guard with the option to move him back to left tackle if the Bears don’t extend Braxton Jones. Wherever he plays, LSU’s consensus All-American lineman would use his high football IQ, his expert hand usage, and combination of coordination and power to become a high-level starter in the NFL.
There are questions about left tackle Braxton Jones' future. The former fifth-round pick has been a three-year starter, where he's been one of the better offensive linemen for Chicago (although that's not saying a lot). Still, he's more of a bridge left tackle than a long-term solution. So adding Campbell to fill that gap, or even to occupy the interior, would go a long way in shoring up the team's biggest weakness.
If the Bears were to draft Campbell in the NFL draft, it would mark the second time in three years that Poles selected an offensive lineman at 10th overall. And, for what it's worth, Wright is working out pretty well.
