2024 PGA Championship: Scheffler, McIlroy lead golfers with best odds to win

With just four days left until the 2024 PGA Championship, everyone is wondering whether or not 2024 Masters champion, Scottie Scheffler will participate in the event. With Scheffler's wife, Meredith, expecting the couple's first child for quite some time now, there is a possibility that Scheffler would have to miss the PGA Championship to witness the birth.

Fortunately for golf fans everywhere, reports indicate that the baby has been born.

As the post above indicates, there has not been an official statement from Scheffler regarding the birth of his child, but he is scheduled to appear at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky this week.

This revelation has shot Scheffler up oddsboards. Scheffler was already the favorite to win before it was likely he would play in the tournament, but with his odds of playing skyrocketing, his odds of winning have travelled similarly.

Of course, should Scheffler play, he won't just waltz away with the win. He'll have some stiff competition. Guys like Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, and Xander Schauffele (the latter two both coming off huge performances at the Wells Fargo Championship) will certainly be looking to knock Scheffler off his high horse. It is a difficult task, especially with Scheffler having won four of his last five tournaments, including the 2024 Masters, but Scheffler has not participated in a tournament in nearly a month. Perhaps Scheffler will not be at his best.

With that said, here are the current PGA Championship odds, per BetMGM.
