2024 Paris Olympic Games: Weather conditions affect sports across Paris

Weather continues to be a significant issue at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, from high temperatures to weather delays affecting sports across Paris.

The weather, unpredictable as ever, has not been kind to this historic event. The opening ceremony for the Summer Games was drenched in rain, followed by a current heat wave with temperatures soaring as high as 105 degrees Fahrenheit in parts of France. This unpredictability is significant, especially considering the lack of air conditioners in the Olympic Village to keep the athletes cool.

The severity of the weather has led to the abandonment of the men's skiff medal race due to lack of wind to compete. In Le Golf National in Guyancourt, the first round of men's golf play has been delayed agian due to thunderstorms and lightning weather conditions.

Meanwhile, in Teahupo'o, if current weather conditions continue, the women's heat is expected to continue after days of rough surfing conditions and poor wind direction have significantly affected both men's and women's competitions.
