LIVE COVERAGE IS OVER91 updates
  • Here's what to keep an eye on tomorrow

  • Nebraska led by as many as 17 in the 2nd half, coughed up the entire lead, but managed to hang on to avoid a late-night upset to cap the day. Survive and advance!

  • Final: Nebraska 61, Texas A&M 59

Texas A&M got a clean look at the buzzer but it didn't find the rim. Huskers HANG ON!

  • Nebraska missed the 2nd FT, A&M quickly rebounds and gets the timeout. Aggies will have one last shot here, trailing 61-59.

  • Nebraska headed to the FT line with 2.2 ticks on the clock and leading 60-59.

  • Nebraska re-takes the lead 60-59 after Logan Nissley knocks down two free throws.

A&M turned it over on their ensuing possession and it's Huskers ball with 2.6 seconds left.

  • A&M takes the lead after the AND-1! Aggies up 59-58 with 17.7 seconds to play!

  • The last game of the night is coming down to the wire. Texas A&M has rallied to tie it 56-56 with under a minute to play.

  • We could have YET ANOTHER massive comeback today. Texas A&M trailed by as many as 17 and are tied with Nebraska, 56-56, with 1:38 remaining.

Parity within the tournament's first two rounds isn't quite there yet (playing on home courts has a part), but we're really seeing that the middle of the pack has all leveled up. Some of these matchups might have been blowouts a couple years ago, and now we're seeing big-time comebacks even if we aren't seeing upsets.

  • Big win for Stanford to open the tournament. It was a standard outing for the frontcourt duo of Cameron Brink and Kiki Iriafen, who combined for 35 points and 24 rebounds.

More impressive is the backcourt, which has been hot-and-cold this year. Hannah Jump scored 13, going 4-of-6 from 3. Elena Bosgana scored 18 shooting 4-of-6 from 3. Bosgana averaged 6.5 ppg this year. That kind of better-than-average production is the type of X-factor a squad needs when times get tough.

  • Final: Stanford 79, Norfolk State 50

The Cardinal advance with ease. Cameron Brink put up a very Cameron Brink stat line of 17 points and 15 rebounds in the winning effort.

  • Cameron Brink said NOPE

  • Smooth transition 3. Stanford is looking good.

  • Huskers are looking good late in the first half vs. Texas A&M.

  • Holy Cross is in Iowa City readying to face Caitlin Clark and Co. on Saturday in the ABC afternoon time slot. This was a sweet moment from head coach Maureen Magarity about her two young daughters and the "Caitlin Effect."

Basketball runs deep in this family. Her first win at Holy Cross was against Army West Point, which was coached by her father, Dave. It's believed to be the first father-daughter coaching matchup in DI history.

  • Nice start for Nebraska in the nightcap

  • Stanford's bigs have been doing most of the damage so far as Kiki Iriafen (9 points) and Cameron Brink (6) have combined to help the Cardinal build an early 24-12 lead.

  • Stanford and Norfolk State are in action in one of the final games of the night. Cameron Brink is playing her final stretch of games for Stanford after announcing she would enter the 2024 WNBA Draft. Brink is projected to go No. 2 to the Los Angeles Sparks, a team at the start of a rebuild under second-year head coach Curt Miller.

Check out what talent evaluators said about Brink and other prospects in our Yahoo Sports WNBA Big Board.

  • Breaking down LSU's shaky win in the first round

  • Final: Oregon State 73, Eastern Washington 51

Oregon State recovered from a slow start and pulled away from the Eagles.

  • Audi Crooks' 40 points is the most in an NCAA Tournament game since Brittney Griner scored 40 in 2011.

    And there's more.

  • Final: Iowa State 93, Maryland 86

Iowa State was down by 20 to Maryland at one point, but completed the second-largest comeback in NCAA Tournament history to take home to win. Audi Crooks, in her first-ever Tournament game, scored 40 on 18-of-20 shooting.

  • Welcome to tourney time, Audi Crooks

What a battle. We highlighted Portland 3 this week for all of the individual scorers (hey JuJu Watkins and Dyaisha Fair). And it's two players in Portland 4 that went off on day 1 in one of the best games of the day (so far).

Freshman center Audi Crooks posted a career-high in her first NCAA Tournament game to lead Iowa State, 93-86, over Maryland. It was the second-largest comeback in tournament history.

She scored 40 points on an incredibly efficient 18-20 with 12 rebounds and two blocks. Yes, she missed only two shots the entire game in a 7-10 matchup. Fifth-year point guard Emily Ryan had 14 assists, plenty to Crooks inside, with 18 points.

Maryland forward Allie Kubek, a junior transfer from Towson, came into Friday averaging 8.4 ppg. She came off the bench to score a career-high 29 points on a similarly efficient 10-12. She was 7-of-8 from 3 (!!), besting her previous season-high of three made 3s. She averages barely one attempt per game (0.4-0.9).

  • Final: Colorado 86, Drake 72

This one was never in doubt for the Buffs. They essentially led from start to finish and are on to the 2nd round.

  • Oregon State is positively whipping the ball around the court.

  • Maryland's Allie Kubek is having the game of her life, with a career-high 29 points and seven three-pointers, a Maryland record.

  • It looked like Maryland vs. Iowa State was over after the first half, but Maryland's lead has evaporated and they're fighting for their lives against Iowa State, which tied up the game in the third quarter thanks to a basket from — who else? — Audi Crooks, who has 29 points on the night.

  • Iowa State has made a massive comeback against Maryland, despite the Terps literally using Audi Crooks' back to in-bound the ball.

  • The Buffaloes are starting to leave the Bulldogs in the dust. At the end of the third, Colorado has an 18-point lead.

  • Eastern Washington's Jaydia Martin hands out a brutal rejection against Oregon.

  • Maryland is having no problem handling Iowa State.

  • Final: Baylor 80, Vanderbilt 63

Baylor rolled over Vanderbilt thanks to strong performances in the first and third quarters. They're onto the 2nd round, where they'll face No. 5 Virginia Tech.

  • This basket from Baylor's Jana Van Gytenbeek went through without even a swish. The net literally didn't move.

  • Drake needs a lot more shots like these if they hope to catch up to Colorado.

  • Maryland has been more than Iowa State can handle early on. This basket from Brinae Alexander is one of the reasons they ended the first quarter with a 33-20 lead.

  • Baylor has been keeping a pretty consistent 20-point lead over Vanderbilt, and now they just need to kill some clock.

  • Two good ones underway:

Portland 4 | No. 7 Iowa State vs. No. 10 Maryland
I'm high on this young Iowa State team, led by freshmen Audi Crooks and Addy Brown. Crooks is so good in the post averaging 18.9 ppg (99th percentile) and 7.7 rpg (96th percentile).

Albany 2 | No. 5 Colorado vs. No. 10 Drake
Colorado fizzled at the end of the season, losing six of the last eight. The Buffaloes could be on upset alert.

  • Final: Alabama 82, Florida State 74

Alabama pulls away at the end to advance to the 2nd round, where it will face No. 1 seed Texas on Sunday.

  • Alabama has seemingly put this one away, leading 82-72 with 20 seconds left

  • Florida State-Alabama has been fun all the way through!

  • Final: Kansas State 78, Portland 65

Gabby Gregory (22 points) and Ayoka Lee (21) lead the Wildcats to a win over Portland.

  • Kansas State is trying to close the door on Portland

  • Final: LSU 70, Rice 60

Not the most convincing first-round win for the defending champs, but the Tigers fend off a tough challenge from Rice. LSU moves on to face Middle Tennessee in the 2nd round.

  • Cool moment as Virginia Tech's Elizabeth Kitley (out for season with a torn ACL) stamps the Hokies into the 2nd round:

  • LSU continuously allows opponents to stay in the game. The Tigers might escape this one with Rice, but it only becomes more difficult as the games go deeper. The turnovers (now up to 20) will be a feast for a team like UCLA or Iowa. LSU has six games of at least 20 turnovers. Its high is 23 against Jacksonville, a team it didn't matter much against.

  • Tigers maintaining in the 4th quarter. Can Rice close the gap?

  • Rice just attempted its first two free throws of the game with under 7 minutes to play.

LSU has attempted 25 in this game. Big reason the Tigers are in contro

  • Final: Virginia Tech 92, Marshall 49

Four players in double figures as Hokies cruise into the second round.

  • LSU doing its best to keep some distance from a pesky Rice team:

  • K-State is comfortably ahead over Cinderella entrant Portland:
