The last game of the night is coming down to the wire. Texas A&M has rallied to tie it 56-56 with under a minute to play.
- Cassandra Negley
We could have YET ANOTHER massive comeback today. Texas A&M trailed by as many as 17 and are tied with Nebraska, 56-56, with 1:38 remaining.
Parity within the tournament's first two rounds isn't quite there yet (playing on home courts has a part), but we're really seeing that the middle of the pack has all leveled up. Some of these matchups might have been blowouts a couple years ago, and now we're seeing big-time comebacks even if we aren't seeing upsets.
- Cassandra Negley
Big win for Stanford to open the tournament. It was a standard outing for the frontcourt duo of Cameron Brink and Kiki Iriafen, who combined for 35 points and 24 rebounds.
More impressive is the backcourt, which has been hot-and-cold this year. Hannah Jump scored 13, going 4-of-6 from 3. Elena Bosgana scored 18 shooting 4-of-6 from 3. Bosgana averaged 6.5 ppg this year. That kind of better-than-average production is the type of X-factor a squad needs when times get tough.

Final: Stanford 79, Norfolk State 50
The Cardinal advance with ease. Cameron Brink put up a very Cameron Brink stat line of 17 points and 15 rebounds in the winning effort.

Welcome to tourney time, Audi Crooks
What a battle. We highlighted Portland 3 this week for all of the individual scorers (hey JuJu Watkins and Dyaisha Fair). And it's two players in Portland 4 that went off on day 1 in one of the best games of the day (so far).
Freshman center Audi Crooks posted a career-high in her first NCAA Tournament game to lead Iowa State, 93-86, over Maryland. It was the second-largest comeback in tournament history.
She scored 40 points on an incredibly efficient 18-20 with 12 rebounds and two blocks. Yes, she missed only two shots the entire game in a 7-10 matchup. Fifth-year point guard Emily Ryan had 14 assists, plenty to Crooks inside, with 18 points.
Maryland forward Allie Kubek, a junior transfer from Towson, came into Friday averaging 8.4 ppg. She came off the bench to score a career-high 29 points on a similarly efficient 10-12. She was 7-of-8 from 3 (!!), besting her previous season-high of three made 3s. She averages barely one attempt per game (0.4-0.9).

It looked like Maryland vs. Iowa State was over after the first half, but Maryland's lead has evaporated and they're fighting for their lives against Iowa State, which tied up the game in the third quarter thanks to a basket from — who else? — Audi Crooks, who has 29 points on the night.

LSU continuously allows opponents to stay in the game. The Tigers might escape this one with Rice, but it only becomes more difficult as the games go deeper. The turnovers (now up to 20) will be a feast for a team like UCLA or Iowa. LSU has six games of at least 20 turnovers. Its high is 23 against Jacksonville, a team it didn't matter much against.
