2024 Copa America: Thursday's schedule and how to watch
The 2024 Copa America is here. The U.S. is hosting the soccer tournament for the first time since 2016 as the event moves to take place at the same time as the UEFA European Championship. For the next three weeks, 16 teams will compete across 14 cities before the finals at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Today's action features the defending champions Argentina and one of the most iconic players in the world, Lionel Messi. They're taking on long shots Canada, who made it to the quarterfinals of their most recent tournament (the CONCACAF Gold Cup).

Argentina vs. Canada kicks off the tournament as the only game for Thursday.

Argentina enters the tournament with multiple wins on their resume. The squad won the 2021 Copa America 1-0 over Brazil and won the 2022 World Cup 3-3 (4-2 PK) over France. Since their win in the World Cup Final, Argentina's won 13 of 14 matches. The sole loss came in November 2023 with a 2-0 loss to Uruguay.
Canada enters the tournament as one of the longer shots to win the tournament. The team did not make it out of the group stage of the 2022 World Cup, going 0-0-3. Since then, the squad's gone 6-4-4.
