2023 NFL draft trade tracker: Details of all the notable moves involving picks

The 2023 NFL draft so far has been one of the most unpredictable in recent memory.

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young went No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers on Thursday. The pick was a result of a pre-draft trade with the Chicago Bears.

It only took two picks before fans saw the first big trade of the first round in what was an eventful Thursday night of twists and turns. That stunning move was made by the Houston Texans, who traded up from No. 12 — a pick acquired from the Cleveland Browns in the Deshaun Watson trade — to No. 3. The bold move netted the Texans what they hope are cornerstone players on offense (Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was selected at No. 2) and defense (Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr. at No. 3).

Ravens trade back into draft

The Ravens thought they were done in the draft after selecting Oregon tackle Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu at No. 199, but they traded back in to grab USC offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees at No. 229.

The selection came about due to a trade with the Browns in which Cleveland receives a 2024 sixth-round pick.

After protecting quarterback Caleb Williams en route to his Heisman win, Vorhees tore his ACL at the combine. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, his doctor told teams he is making a complete recovery. The Ravens don't expect him to play this season, but are looking forward to developing him for the future to protect Lamar Jackson, who signed a monster five-year extension right before the draft started.

Bills make another move, this time with Rams

The Bills offered up another sixth-round pick, this time to the Rams.

Los Angeles received the No. 215 pick and used it to draft Ole Miss running back Zach Evans. Last year, Cam Akers led the Rams with 786 rushing yards and seven touchdowns amid trade speculation.

Buffalo, which acquired the No. 215 pick in an earlier trade with the Commanders, received the seventh-round No. 252 pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick.

Texans trade with Bills to send No. 230 to yet another team

The Texans traded up in a deal with the Bills for the No. 205 pick. They used it to draft Iowa State wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson after Brandin Cooks was shipped to Dallas this offseason. Houston will seek to give No. 2 overall pick C.J. Stroud some options to throw to as the Texans recover from a 3-13 season.

In exchange, Buffalo received seventh-round pick No. 230 and a sixth-round pick in 2024.

This is the second time Houston has traded away the No. 230 pick and it has been on the draft boards of the Jets, Buccaneers and Eagles.

Saints reunite TE Adam Trautman with Sean Payton in trade with Broncos

The Saints sent tight end Adam Trautman and a seventh-round (No. 257) pick to the Broncos in a trade for the No. 195 pick.

This reunites Trautman with head coach Sean Payton, who drafted him to New Orleans out of Dayton in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. Payton stepped down as the Saints' head coach in 2021 and spent time as a broadcaster before signing with the Broncos in February. Denver drafted tight end Greg Dulcich last year. He split playing time with Albert Okwuegbunam.

With the No. 195 pick, New Orleans selected Wake Forest wide receiver A.T. Perry. As star wideout Michael Thomas struggled with injuries last year, the Saints turned to rookie Chris Olave and are seeking to give their new quarterback Derek Carr some more tools in his arsenal.

Eagles trade with Buccaneers

Philadelphia kept busy, making another trade in the sixth round. This time, they sent the No. 191 pick to the Buccaneers in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round pick.

With the No. 191 pick, Tampa Bay selected Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer.

The pick also went through the Texans, Rams and Packers as it was part of Los Angeles' trade that sent punter Corey Bojorquez to Green Bay.

Cowboys trade up to start sixth round; Texans trade with Eagles

The Cowboys moved up to grab the first pick of the sixth round in a trade with the Chiefs.

With pick No. 178, Dallas selected Southern Miss cornerback Eric Scott Jr. to join a defense bolstered by fellow cornerback Trevon Diggs and linebacker Micah Parsons.

Kansas City received a 2024 fifth-round draft pick as compensation.

The Texans also traded pick No. 191 to the Eagles in exchange for No. 230 and No. 248.

The No. 230 pick has had quite a journey in the draft as it's also gone through the hands of the Jets and Buccaneers. The Texans originally traded it to the Eagles back in the second round in a deal that included the No. 62 pick where Houston picked up Penn State center Juice Scruggs.

Jets trade with Raiders; Rams make another move

The Jets traded the No. 170 pick to the Raiders in exchange for sixth-round pick No. 204 and seventh-round pick No. 220.

With the pick, Las Vegas selected Georgia safety Christopher Smith II.

The Rams continue to make waves with a trade with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay got the No. 171 pick, which they used to grab Purdue tight end Payne Durham.

Los Angeles received the No. 175 pick and seventh-round pick No. 252. They now have three of the last four picks at the end of the fifth round.

Rams get Mr. Irrelevant pick in trade with Texans

The Rams traded down and gave the Texans the No. 167 pick in the fifth round.

Houston selected Alabama linebacker Henry To'o To'o with what was originally a compensatory pick.

In exchange, Los Angeles gets the No. 174 pick and No. 259, which is the last pick in the draft. The Rams will select this year's Mr. Irrelevant.

Last year's Mr. Irrelevant was San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy, who took the 49ers to the NFC champ.

Colts, Vikings swap

The Vikings made another move on Saturday by trading with the Colts. Minnesota moved up to take the No. 141 pick in the fifth round, where they selected LSU defensive tackle Jacquelin Roy.

In the trade, Indianapolis received No. 158 and sixth-round pick No. 211.

Commanders move up in fifth round trade with Bills

The Commanders took the No. 137 pick from the Bills in the fifth round.

Washington selected Clemson defensive end K.J. Henry with the pick. Earlier this week, the team declined the fifth-year option for Pro Bowler Chase Young.

In the trade, Buffalo received picks No. 150 and No. 215.

Patriots trade last pick of fourth round to Raiders

The Patriots gave the No. 135 pick to the Raiders in Las Vegas' second trade action of the day. New England gave up the last pick of the fourth-round in exchange for No. 144 and No. 214.

With the pick, the Raiders selected Purdue quarterback Aidan O'Connell. In the offseason, the Black and Silver welcomed Jimmy Garoppolo to replace Derek Carr.

Eagles acquire RB D'Andre Swift in trade with Lions

Philadelphia added yet another Georgia player over draft weekend, acquiring running back D'Andre Swift from the Lions during the fourth round on Saturday. Swift grew up in Philadelphia before attending the SEC powerhouse.

"Tremendous player, tremendous person, excited to get him to Philly," general manager Howie Roseman, who attended rival school Florida, said on ESPN. "... He's got big play ability as a runner and receiver. ... I'm sure I'm out of the Florida alumni association as we speak."

In the trade, Detroit received seventh-round pick No. 219 and a 2025 fourth-round pick.

The Lions took Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs with their first-round pick, which gave them reason to let go of the third-year veteran.

The Eagles also receive seventh-round pick No. 249 in the exchange.

Jaguars trade No. 127 pick to Saints

The Jaguars had 10 picks on Day 3 and made their first move by trading the No. 127 pick to the Saints.

New Orleans selected Fresno State quarterback Jake Haener with the pick. In the offseason, the Saints acquired Derek Carr, who also hails from Fresno State. Haener wears No. 9 because of Saints legend Drew Brees.

Jacksonville receives the No. 227 pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick in the trade.

Chiefs trade up for No. 119 pick

The hometown crowd was excited when actor and comedian Eric Stonestreet came to the draft stage wearing a Chiefs hat and polo. He announced that Kansas City traded up to take the No. 119 pick from the Vikings.

Kansas City selected Virginia Tech safety Chamarri Conner to boost its defense with the pick.

Minnesota received No. 134 and a 2024 fifth-round pick in the trade. They had previously received the No. 119 pick from the Lions.

Jets trade No. 112 to Patriots

The Jets move down slightly in a trade with the Patriots.

New England acquires the No. 112 pick in exchange for No. 120 and No. 184.

The Patriots selected Maryland kicker Chad Ryland with the pick.

Eagles move up ahead of Day 3 opening

A third trade was made ahead of the opening of Day 3 with the Eagles moving up to No. 105 in a swap with the Texans.

Houston receives a third-round pick in the 2024 draft for the pick.

The first three picks of the day have been given up in trades with the Saints on the clock followed by the Raiders and Eagles.

Texans, Raiders swap pair of picks

There's more action ahead of the opening of Day 3 of the draft. The Texans and Raiders traded a pair of picks.

Houston slides down the draft board, giving Las Vegas the No. 104 pick (the second selection of the day) and also No. 203.

In exchange, the Texans receive the No. 109 and No. 174 picks.

Also ahead of the opening of Day 3, the Saints acquired the first pick of the day from the Bears.

Saints trade for first pick of Day 3 from Bears

The Saints want the first pick of the final day and made a trade with the Bears for the No. 103 selection ahead of the draft's opening on Saturday.

In exchange for the pick, Chicago receives the No. 115 and No. 165 picks.

The Bears previously traded the No. 1 overall pick to the Panthers, who selected Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. During the first round, Chicago traded down again to give the Eagles the No. 9 pick, where Philadelphia took Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter.

Lions and Cardinals make another swap in final trade of Day 2

After exchanging picks with each other in Thursday's first round, the Lions and Cardinals concluded the trading Friday as Detroit moved up to No. 96, where it selected Western Kentucky defensive lineman Brodric Martin. The Cardinals received picks 122, 138 and 168 in exchange.

AFC title games foes make deal with each other

The Chiefs traded up to No. 92 after sending the 95th and 217th picks to the Bengals, the team they got revenge on in this year's AFC championship game. K.C. selected Oklahoma offensive lineman Wanya Morris at No. 92. At 95, the Bengals selected Alabama DB Jordan Battle.

49ers finally make first pick after moving up

San Francisco struck a deal with the Vikings, sending Minnesota the 102nd, 164th and 222nd picks for No. 87. With that third round selection, the 49ers picked Penn State DB Ji'Ayir Brown. He was their first pick in the 2023 draft.

Broncos trade up in another deal with Seahawks

After linking up for the Russell Wilson trade, the Broncos and Seahawks exchanged some draft picks Friday as Denver jumped up to pick No. 83, where it selected Iowa DB Riley Moss. Seattle receives the 108th pick and a third-round pick in 2024. 

Panthers move up in trade with Steelers

Carolina sent picks 93 and 132 to Pittsburgh in exchange for the 80th selection. At No. 80, the Panthers selected Oregon linebacker DJ Johnson. With the 93rd pick, the Steelers drafted Georgia tight end Darnell Washington.

Giants jump up to No. 73, select college football's top wide receiver

Big Blue made a big move up the draft board, shipping the 89th and 128th pick to the Rams for the 73rd selection, which they used on Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt.

Hyatt won the 2022 Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the best wide receiver in college football. 

With the 89th pick, the Rams selected Wake Forest defensive lineman Kobie Turner.

Texans trade up again for 69th pick, draft wide receiver

Houston keeps up its aggressive approach to this draft. The Texans traded up again, shipping picks 73 and 151 to the Rams for pick No. 69. With the 69th pick, the Texans selected University of Houston wide receiver Nathaniel "Tank" Dell.

Broncos trade up for final pick of second round

Denver made its first pick of the 2023 NFL draft with the final selection of the second round, a byproduct of the Russell Wilson trade and the deal to get coach Sean Payton from the Saints. To get No. 63, the Broncos traded picks 68 and 138 to the Lions, who also sent the Broncos pick No. 183. With the 63rd pick, Denver selected Oklahoma wide receiver Marvin Mims. At No. 68, the Lions selected Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker.

Eagles trade pick No. 62 to Texans

After arguably stealing the show with their big first round trade, the Texans moved up again to snag a pick in the late second round. They sent the 65th, 188th and 230th picks to the Eagles for No. 62, which they used on Penn State center Juice Scruggs. Philadelphia used No. 65 to select Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Steen.

Bears strike deal with Jaguars to acquire pick No. 56

We have another trade in consecutive picks.

After the Lions shipped off the No. 55 pick, the Jaguars did the same one pick later. Jacksonville traded pick No. 56 to Chicago for the 61st and 136th picks. The Bears selected Miami DB Tyrique Stevenson at 56. In the No. 61 spot, the Jaguars picked Penn State tight end Brenton Strange.

Chiefs trade up for No. 55 pick, select wide receiver

The defending champs moved up eight spots in a deal with the Lions to select SMU wide receiver Rashee Rice with the 55th overall pick. Draft host Kansas City also receives the 194th selection from Detroit in exchange for the 63rd, 122nd and 249th picks. 

Packers trade down again, ship No. 48 pick to Buccaneers

The Packers selected Oregon State tight end Luke Musgrave with the first of their two second-round picks. They moved down twice with their second selection, from No. 45 to No. 48 in a deal with the Lions, then moved the No. 48 pick to Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers selected North Dakota State lineman Cody Mauch with the No. 48 pick.

Green Bay received the 50th and 179th pick from the Bucs. (They had also acquired the 159th pick in the deal with Detroit.) The Packers finally stood pat at No. 50 and selected Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed.

Packers trade No. 45 pick to division rival Lions

The Lions struck a deal with the NFC North rival Packers to move up to No. 45, where they selected Alabama defensive back Brian Branch. Green Bay receives picks 48 and 159 from Detroit.

Colts trade No. 38 pick to Falcons

The Colts just keep moving down. After picking up the No. 38 pick from the Raiders, they immediately flipped it to the Falcons in a deal that landed Indianapolis the 44th and 110th picks.

Atlanta selected Syracuse offensive lineman Michael Bergeron at No. 38. Bergeron, a 6-5, 318-pound second-team All-ACC performer, played tackle in college but is expected to move inside in the NFL. When the Colts finally picked at No. 44, they selected Kansas State DB Julius Brents.

Colts trade No. 35 pick to Raiders, who pick Michael Mayer

The Raiders pulled off a trade with the Colts to move up and select one of the top players still on the board in Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer. To move to No. 35, the Raiders are sending the Colts the 38th and 141st picks.

Mayer should instantly step into the lineup after the Raiders traded former Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller this offseason.

Cardinals trade No. 33 pick to Titans, who select QB Will Levis

Tennessee ends Will Levis' slide, selecting the Kentucky quarterback after trading up and grabbing the second pick of the second round from Arizona. The Titans also received the 81st pick from the Cardinals in exchange for picks 41, 72 and a 2024 third-round pick. With the 41st pick, the Cardinals selected LSU linebacker BJ Ojulari and at 72 they grabbed Syracuse DB Garrett Williams.

Jaguars trade No. 25 pick to Bills

The Jaguars traded twice in a row as they sent away the No. 25 pick to the Bills.

Buffalo selected Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid with the pick to give quarterback Josh Allen another tool in the pass game. He is the first player at his position to be taken off the draft board.

In the trade, Jacksonville got the 27th and 130th picks. The Jaguars selected Oklahoma tackle Anton Harrison at No. 27.

Jaguars trade No. 24 pick to Giants

The Giants sneaked up one position in a swap with the Jaguars.

New York selected Maryland defensive back Deonte Banks with the No. 24 pick.

Jacksonville receives the 25th, 160th (fifth round) and 240th (seventh round) picks in the trade. 

Patriots trade No. 14 pick to Steelers

The Patriots traded down to give the Steelers the No. 14 pick.

Mike Tomlin and company nabbed Georgia tackle Broderick Jones with the move.

New England gets the 17th pick and 120th pick in the swap. The Patriots picked Oregon cornerback Christian Gonzalez at No. 17.

Bears trade No. 9 pick to Eagles

After giving up the No. 1 pick ahead of the draft, the Bears let themselves slide down the board a spot further by giving up the No. 9 pick to the Eagles.

Philadelphia used the opportunity to snag Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter. The defender could have potentially been picked higher and had meetings with the Seahawks ahead of the draft, but teams may have had concerns after he pleaded no contest to charges of racing and reckless driving in connection with the fatal car crash that killed teammate Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy.

The Bears receive the 10th pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick in the trade. Chicago selected Tennessee tackle Darnell Wright with the No. 10 pick.

Lions trade No. 6 pick to Cardinals

Just three picks after trading down, the Cardinals traded right back up to No. 6 via the Detroit Lions, a pick that was originally the Los Angeles Rams'.

Arizona selected Ohio State tackle Paris Johnson Jr. with the pick. Johnson Jr.'s father was selected by the Cardinals in the fifth round of the 1999 NFL draft.

The Lions received the 12th and 34th picks. Detroit used the 12th pick on Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Cardinals trade No. 3 pick to Texans

The Texans went back-to-back after selecting Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 pick. They then traded with the Cardinals to acquire the No. 3 pick. They selected Alabama defender Will Anderson Jr.

Houston gave up the 12th pick, the 33rd pick, a 2024 first-rounder and 2024 third-rounder in the swap.
