2 Blues Trade Candidates If Team Becomes Sellers

The St. Louis Blues are in an interesting spot right now. At the time of this writing, they sport a 23-24-4 record and have lost six out of their 10 games. While this is the case, they are not out of the playoff race, as they trail the Calgary Flames by five points for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference.

However, if the Blues are unable to move up in the standings as we continue to get closer to the 2025 NHL trade deadline, the potential of them being sellers will increase. If they go down this avenue, let's look at a few players who could become trade candidates.

Ryan Suter

If the Blues end up selling, defenseman Ryan Suter could be a player who finds a new home. Post-season clubs can never have enough experienced defensive depth, and Suter would have the ability to provide just that. The left-shot blueliner has played in 1,495 regular and 133 post-season games over his career.

Suter, 40, has one goal, nine points, 62 blocks, and a plus-4 rating in 51 games this season with the Blues. Overall, the veteran could be a decent bottom-pairing or extra defenseman for a contender to add.

Radek Faksa

Radek Faksa would be another pending unrestricted free agent to watch if the Blues sell. The 31-year-old forward is having a quiet offensive season, posting three goals and nine points in 39 games. However, his defensive play and ability to kill penalties could make him generate interest from a playoff club looking for help in their bottom six.

Faksa's plethora of playoff experience could also grab the attention of contenders. This is especially so if the Blues are willing to retain a portion of his salary.
