With the holiday season here, NHL insider Chris Johnston released his latest trade board for The Athletic. In it, he listed two notable Bruins players, as Trent Frederic and Brad Marchand made the cut.
Frederic has the No. 5 spot on Johnston's latest list, and it is easy to understand why. The 2016 first-round pick has been generating plenty of interest around the league, and his pending unrestricted free agent status naturally makes things more interesting.
If the Bruins find themselves out of a playoff spot later this season, Frederic could be a very popular rental target for clubs around the NHL. However, the possibility of them trading him to improve their roster elsewhere could also be there.
Marchand, on the other hand, just made Johnston's list at the final No. 30 spot. Like Frederic, the 36-year-old is in the last season of his current deal and can become a UFA next off-season.
However, a lot would need to go wrong with the Bruins' season for them to even consider trading their captain. He has spent the entirety of his 1,061-game career as a Bruin and is still one of their best players.
