2 Arsenal youngsters nominated for PL2 Player of the Month
Arsenal duo Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Khayon Edwards are up for the Premier League 2’s Player of the Month award for August.
The Premier League have confirmed their nominees for August’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award, with two Arsenal youngsters among the eight players selected.
With the Arsenal u21s leading the division after three matches, it’s no real surprise to see two members of that team nominated.
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Khayon Edwards are the duo in question, with both playing a pivotal role in Arsenal’s three wins from three games.
The other six players are Joshua Ajala and Lewis Orford of West Ham United, Aaron Bott and Kyle McAdam of Nottingham Forest, Jack Fletcher of Manchester United, and Kristian Sekularac of Fulham.
The pair are currently the top two in the division’s top scorers ranking, with Butler-Oyedeji scoring four and assisting two, and Edwards scorign three and assisting two.
Butler-Oyedeji provided a goal and assist in the opening game against Manchester United, then scored a brace against Wolves, before providing another goal and assist against Aston Villa.
Edwards managed two goals and an assist in the United game, and he set up a goal in the Wolves game before scoring a penalty against Villa.
Butler-Oyedeji may have the edge between the two of them, with the extra goal and the fact Edwards was sent off in injury time against Villa. It’s hard to see any other nominee competing with the Arsenal pair.
There’s nothing Arsenal fans can do to influence the final result, with the Premier League Football Development Panel deciding the winner this week.
It’s just a case of keeping fingers crossed that they make the right decision.
