Arsenal target Nico Williams delivered a fantastic performance during Spain’s 4-1 win over Georgia in the round of 16 stage of Euro 2024.

The 21-year-old is one of the best attacking players in La Liga and he had a brilliant 2023/24 season at Athletic Bilbao with eight goals and 19 assists from 37 appearances.

The Spaniard has continued his form at the European Championship. He was exceptional against Georgia last night as La Roja came from behind to register a comfortable win.

Williams started on the left wing and he showed his class with a passing accuracy of 100 percent (46/46). He scored a splendid goal before delivering a quality assist.

The Bilbao graduate created four big chances in the game while attempting five shots. He also won four duels and made four recoveries in a flawless display for Spain.

Williams’ reputation has been enhanced over the past season. The interest is bound to increase over the coming weeks amid his stand-out performances at Euro 2024.

He is currently on the shortlist of the Gunners and it has been reported that manager Mikel Arteta prefers to sign him if the hierarchy open the door to recruit another winger.

In our opinion, it would be a no-brainer decision. Williams has the ability to comfortably play from either wing and would provide strong competition for places for a starting role.

The youngster has largely played from the left wing since last season, but he is equally adept on the right with 35 goal contributions from 74 appearances from the role in his career.

Williams has all the traits to become a world-class winger in the long run. His release clause is relatively low for his talent at £47 million, but the main stumbling block are his wages.

He is already on £169,000 per week at Bilbao. The young winger could demand a substantial rise if he decides to pursue a new challenge abroad during this summer’s transfer window.

This has put off many clubs from pursuing a deal for him. In our view, Arsenal can make a statement by securing his services ahead of other suitors such as Chelsea and Barcelona.
