Arsenal suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to Newcastle United in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday.

The Gunners had some big chances to find the back of the net, but they lacked the cutting edge with their finishing on the night.

The Magpies capitalised on the same. Alexander Isak was the star for the visitors with a goal and an assist at the Emirates Stadium.

Several Arsenal players performed below expectations, and we were once again disappointed with Leandro Trossard’s showing.

The Belgian had a poor outing at Brighton and there was not much improvement in yesterday’s Cup tie against the Magpies at home.

Trossard started on the right wing for the Gunners. He had a passing accuracy of only 74 percent and lost possession on 11 occasions.

The 30-year-old was unsuccessful in delivering any crosses and did not complete a dribble.

He ended up without a shot on target. We were not surprised that Gabriel Jesus replaced him at the hour mark of the game.

Trossard received a 5/10 rating from football.london for his performance.

In our opinion, manager Mikel Arteta got it wrong with his selection, and Trossard should have started on the bench in the first place.

We believe he must be dropped when the Gunners host Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup at home on Sunday.

The Gunners suffered a big setback in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final and can ill-afford to exit the FA Cup at the weekend.

We would personally play Jesus on the right wing with Gabriel Martinelli on the left.

Kai Havertz missed a clear-cut scoring chance yesterday, but the German should get the nod to lead the attack against the Red Devils.
