Player Notes
Rockies manager Walt Weiss announced Friday that Jordan Lyles will remain in the rotation and make his next start on Monday against the Padres in San Diego.

Advice: That means Franklin Morales will be shifted to the bullpen with the impending return of Tyler Chatwood. While Lyles pitched well in his lone outing, he's unlikely to have much value in mixed leagues while pitching in Colorado.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post believes that Jordan Lyles is likely to keep his spot in the rotation when Tyler Chatwood (hamstring) returns from the disabled list Sunday.

Advice: Renck notes that no decision has been made between Lyles and Franklin Morales, but Lyles is "in (a) good spot." The young right-hander was given a rotation spot only when Chatwood went down, but he's earned the right to keep the job after 6 2/3 frames of one-run ball Monday. Morales has fumbled his opportunity, posting a 6.94 ERA over his first two starts. He would move into the Rockies' bullpen.

Jordan Lyles was the star of Monday night's victory over the White Sox, hurling 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball in a 7-1 victory.

Advice: He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out four, mixing speeds effectively and keeping White Sox hitters off balance all evening. Lyles didn't just impress on the mound, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI at the dish. Including a walk he drew in his Rockies' debut, Lyles is now batting .600/.667/.800 over six trips to the plate. Obviously his work on the rubber is far more pressing, and Lyles has acquitted himself well in that department over his first two starts, going 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA. So far, so good for Colorado's biggest return from the Dexter Fowler trade. He's got a good matchup on deck next week in San Diego.
