Player Notes
Carl Crawford (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday.

Advice: He'll remain with Rancho Cucamonga through Thursday before then likely moving up to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Crawford, who has been sidelined since late April with a strained right oblique, is pegged for a backup role upon his activation from the disabled list.

Carl Crawford (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cuncamonga this week.

Advice: Crawford has taken live batting practice recently without any issues and is ready to test things out in a game. He's been out since late April with a strained right oblique and will be second on the depth chart behind Andre Ethier in left field when he returns next month.

Carl Crawford (oblique) will take live batting practice this week.

Advice: Crawford is slowly recovering from a strained oblique suffered in late April. The outfielder owned a starting spot prior to the injury, but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly recently said he won't be guaranteed one upon his return. Either way, that return likely won't come until after the All-Star break.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Monday that Carl Crawford (oblique) will have to earn his playing time when he returns from the disabled list.

Advice: Mattingly said of the left field job that Andre Ethier has "kind of taken that spot, to be honest with you." It's no surprise, of course, given Ethier's .275/.353/.487 batting line and Crawford's struggles before he got hurt. As for Crawford's recovery from a right oblique strain, he is 10 days away from game action but will need plenty of rehab games after missing two months.
