Ilya Mikheyev suffers significant laceration to wrist, rushed to hospital
Hold your breath, Maple Leafs fans.
A freak accident during the third period of Toronto’s matchup against the New Jersey Devils on Friday sent young Ilya Mikheyev to the hospital after his wrist was cut by a skate.

It looks like Jesper Bratt’s skate caught the hand of Mikheyev and sliced right through.
This video doesn’t show the damage post-injury, which apparently took quite a while to clean due to the blood trail he left behind.

Sportsnet’s broadcast shared near the end of the third period that Mikheyev was heading to the hospital to tend to the injury, no more specifics were mentioned.
The Toronto Maple Leafs shared an update that Mikheyev was being transported to hospital or further evaluation and assessment. He will spend the night in the hospital while the team travels back home for a game on Saturday night.
