Iowa wrestlers arrested … for rabbit hunting on campus

Chalk this up as something not to do on a university campus: go rabbit hunting.

Two University of Iowa wrestlers were arrested by campus police Tuesday for doing just that, according to the Associated Press. Freshmen Alex Meyer and Connor Ryan used BB guns and an air rifle in an ill-fated attempt to go all Elmer Fudd on the Iowa City campus.

According to the report, athletic director Gary Barta said both student-athletes were suspended indefinitely and face disciplinary action.

Neither Meyer, an 18-year-old from suburban Des Moines, nor Ryan, also 18 from Bettendorf, Iowa, has wrestled in a match this season for the fourth-ranked Hawkeyes (2-0).
