Drop Shots: Querrey beats Isner in all-American final

The biggest surprise of the day wasn't the all-American final, but that Novak Djokovic was able to make it through the trophy presentation without retiring.

The last time two Americans played in the final of a real European clay court event, Paula Abdul's "Rush, Rush" was the No. 1 song in America, "Cheers" was still the top show on television and, inexplicably, the film "Home Alone" was still a top 10 box office hit. Oh, and neither John Isner nor Sam Querrey was out of kindergarten.

Nineteen years later, the two young Americans faced off in the final of the Serbia Open in Belgrade, with Querrey rallying from a match point to hold off his friend and frequent doubles partner, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4. It was the first U.S. final on European clay since Jim Courier beat Andre Agassi in the 1991 French Open.
