New York City FC unveil badge design tool allowing fans (and us) to submit ideas

New York City FC will begin play in MLS in 2015 and the club is starting to take shape. They hired former Real Salt Lake manager Jason Kreis in December and now the club owned by Man City and the New York Yankees would like you to help them design their badge.

Using a design tool on the club's official website, fans can choose from a number of options or even upload their own designs and images, which will all (except for the pornographic or otherwise obscene images you just thought to submit...presumably) be provided to the official badge designer for inspiration.

All of the fan submitted designs and images will also be put together to form a "badge of badges" mosaic that will be displayed on the club's website and in physical form at their permanent facilities (wherever that may be).

Given this opportunity to inspire, we here at DT created a few badges of our own. First, a couple based on players that NYCFC might want to make their first signings...

But if they can't sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Andrea Pirlo, maybe NYCFC should highlight the fact that unlike MLS's existing New York club, they will not be playing in New Jersey...

Or maybe one that illustrates iconic elements of New York City, like the Brooklyn Bridge, a slice of New York pizza, a squirrel and pinstripes (for the Yankees connection)...

And finally, one for us...

You can create your own badge here.
