Sunderland defender Santiago Vergini scored his first Premier League goal on Saturday with a lovely volley that would have been a perfect way to break his duck had he not scored it against his own team. The 26-year-old Argentine, on loan from Estudiantes, started what would prove to be a miserable day for Sunderland with his own goal in the 12th minute of his side's match against Sunderland.

Vergini's attempt to clear the ball out of play went so horribly wrong that it ended up looking like a goal the Southampton players could only dream of scoring.

The home side didn't have to dream of scoring for themselves much longer, though. They went on to add four more goals before the 70th minute, including a brace from Graziano Pelle. And just to make Vergini feel less alone, teammate Liam Birdcutt scored an own goal, as well. And it might have been even more painful than Vergini's.

That's a true brother (in own goals).

When the drubbing was finally over, Southampton won 8-0.
