Police stopped comedian Simon Brodkin, who was in character as fictional Premier League footballer Jason Bent, from boarding England's team plane at Luton airport. Brodkin blended in with the players before they boarded the Miami-bound flight for their final two warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup by wearing the team's official suit, which is available for purchase on the Marks and Spencer website.

Police hauled a resistant Brodkin away as he held out his passport before he could get on the plane. The real England players responded with a mix of amusement and confusion. After being denied entry to the plane, Brodkin/Bent tweeted his disappointment along with an allusion to match fixing ...

Brodkin made headlines last year as his Bent character when he was arrested after invading the pitch at Goodison Park before Everton's match against Man City wearing a personalized City kit and attempting to join the team in their warm-ups.

John Terry is surely upset that he didn't think of this plane idea himself.
