At 1.35pm on Monday the German national team flew from Frankfurt to Gdansk to settle into their accommodation for Euro 2012. While other players may have prepared for the journey and subsequent tournament with some rest, Jerome Boateng took a different approach.

At 3am on Monday morning, the Bayern Munich star was spotted 340 miles away from Frankfurt in a €79-a-night Berlin airport hotel, leaving a room with Playboy cover model Gina-Lisa Lohfink. While this may impress fans of the blonde model's body of work (slightly-NSFW sample here), the DFB are not likely to be so amused.

The former Germany's Next Top Model contestant explained her rendez-vous with the Bayern Munich defender to Bild:

"Jerome Boateng heard that I was in town, and wanted to meet me. We met at two o'clock in the bar of my hotel. And then we stayed in my room until three."

When Gina-Lisa was asked if Boateng may have conducted any physical exertion, the 25-year-old responded:

"We only talked!"

Boateng's agent has defended the 23-year-old's right to late-night conversation, claiming he was actually in bed up until two o'clock when he went to meet Miss Lohfink.

While Boateng shot the breeze in affordable accommodation, club and country teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger reminded us that millionaire footballers are supposed to stay in ridiculously expensive lodgings by resting up in an €800-a-night suite at the JK Place Boutique Hotel in Capri.
