Carles Puyol kept Gerard Pique from showing the referee a lighter thrown by Madrid fans

The first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal between Real Madrid and Barcelona was as cranky as you would expect from a Clasico. There were six yellow cards in all, but with Barca up 1-0 in the second half, Carles Puyol tried to keep it from boiling over.

After Gerard Pique did a tremendous job with a sliding clearance to prevent a scoring chance for Cristiano Ronaldo at the post, he came up with a lighter thrown from the Bernabeu crowd. Pique held it out and was about to show the referee, but Puyol grabbed it from him, tossed it aside and told Pique to get in position for the ensuing corner kick. Either he wanted Pique to stay focused on the match and not on trying to get others in trouble or he just didn't trust him holding a lighter around his hair.

Real Madrid went on to score in the 81st minute with a header from 19-year-old defender and Man of the Match Raphael Varane.
