Falcons hope to retain CB Brent Grimes long-term

Cornerback Brent Grimes may only be 5-10, but the Atlanta Falcons are hoping he'll cast his shadow in the Peach State for many years to come. ESPN reports that the team is aggressively trying to get Grimes to sign to a long-term deal.

Atlanta general manager Thomas Dimitroff told reporters at the scouting combine that "serious talks had begun with Grimes' agents" and that the team wasn't "wasting time with our discussions," according to the site.

The 28-year-old Grimes who went undrafted out of Shippensburg University in 2006, joined the Falcons in 2007 and has had 241 tackles, 13 interceptions and one trip to the Pro Bowl since. Last season, he was involved with 49 tackles and one interception.
