Sage Kotsenburg guests on Jimmy Fallon, jokes he gave Bob Costas pinkeye

Our new national hero, snowboarder Sage Kotsenburg, is back on U.S. soil after winning Team USA's first gold medal at the Sochi Games. And he's still having the time of his life.

Kotsenburg did a New York media tour Wednesday, showing up on "Good Morning America" and taping an interview with new "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon that will air Thursday. If there was any question where Kotsenburg — the 20-year-old Jeff Spicoli look-alike from Utah — was a better fit, the tweet below ought to answer it. Sage was made for late night.

There are many wonderful things in this picture of Kotsenburg's scribbles for Fallon. Tops on the list is "aka the guy who gave Bob Costas pink eye." When you get an autograph from a snowboarder who has said he wished his gold medal was made out of bacon, this is the eccentric cherry on top you're hoping for.

The fact that he writes out #spoice (his catchphrase) is great. And "You are a G. You better not ski" sounds like he's either a budding rapper or a children's book author. Frankly, we're on board with either — or both.

Kotsenburg, an upset winner in the men's slopestyle event, has seen his star rise significantly since the Olympics began. He's gained more than 50,000 followers on Twitter in the past week. He's famous enough now that he was stopped on the street in New York by TMZ.
