Watch Rocco Grimaldi’s two goals power Team USA to World Junior gold (VIDEO)

He may be the shortest man listed on the Team USA roster, but he came up the biggest when they needed him.

Rocco Grimaldi, all 5-foot-6 of him, scored two of Team USA's goals in their 3-1 victory over Team Sweden to win the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship gold medal, their second since 2010 and third overall.

The Americans' opening goal came midway through the second period after they fell behind 1-0. Grimaldi (No. 23) scrambled after a loose puck in the corner, cycled behind the Swedish net while fighting off Alexander Wennberg, then wheeled out in front and fired a shot that found daylight between Niklas Lundstrom and the post:

The eventual game-winning goal came almost three minutes later when Sweden turned the puck over in their own zone. Grimaldi set himself up a spot in front of goal and deflected a Jacob Trouba shot in to make it 2-1:

Those were Grimaldi's only two goals of the tournament, marking a memorable comeback after riding the pine against Slovakia.

Vince Trocheck's empty-net goal with 16 seconds left sealed Team USA's gold and started the party in Ufa.

Team USA goaltender John Gibson, who made 26 saves against Sweden, was named the tournament's most valuable player and best goaltender, while Trouba was named the best defenseman.
