Amur edged Avtomobilist 2-1 in KHL action on Friday and goaltender Juha Metsola can take much of the credit for helping his side earn the points.

With just over seven minutes to go in the third period and Amur holding the lead, Avtomobilist dumped the puck in along the boards. It appeared as if the puck would glide behind Metsola’s net, so he came out to meet it and begin the transition. The only problem was that it hit the end boards and bounced in front of the Amur net, giving Alexei Mikhnov a golden chance.

Tough luck for Mikhnov. It’s nowhere near Patrik Stefan levels of muffing an opportunity, what with Mikhnov having to deal with a skipping puck and quickly going backhand to forehand, but it’s one the Amur forward won’t forget any time soon.
