Watch Don Maloney freak out as Matthew Lombardi interrupts his own press conference by calling reporter’s phone (VIDEO)

The Phoenix Coyotes reacquired Matthew Lombardi on Thursday night, in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs that GM Don Maloney announced in a press conference with local media.

One of those reporters was Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic, who was using her cell phone to record Maloney’s comments on the deal. Her phone started vibrating with a call coming through. Maloney stopped talking, picked up the phone and read the caller’s name: Matt Lombardi, who had just interrupted a press conference being held in his honor:

Maloney – impeccably dressed for an NHL general manager, wouldn’t you say? – was hilarious in his reaction to the call, lauding how connected McLellan is and saying “I should have come to you about this deal!”

Surreal and funny moment; it’s just too bad Maloney didn’t put Lombardi on speaker phone.
