Watch 7,908 teddy bears fly during AHL team's annual promotion (Video)

The holidays are here, which means it’s time for our favorite promotion in all of hockey: The Teddy Bear Toss!

The Bakersfield Condors fell to the Stockton Heat 3-2 in AHL action Saturday night, but fortunately the home side got on the scoreboard to allow the 8,212 in attendance to make it rain with teddy bears on the Rabobank Arena ice.

What a scene. The amazing thing is that the last two videos are nearly four minutes long and the teddy bears are still flying when they end.

(On my bucket list is someday dive bombing into one of those piles of teddy bears.)

Members of the Condors organization helped count the bears on Monday morning’s Eyewitness News broadcast and the total came to 7,908 stuffed animals, topping last year's total of 7,358.

According to the team, there have been 103,475 teddy bears tossed in the 17-year history of the event. The stuffed animals will be donated to the United Way of Kern County.

The kings of the Teddy Bear Toss, the WHL's Calgary Hitmen, will hold their event this coming Sunday and hope to break last year’s mark of 25,214.

Finally, let us not forget that Rule No. 1 of the Teddy Bear Toss for fans is to make sure there's an actual goal scored before the bears go flying as Kingston Frontenacs fans found out over the weekend.
