Teemu Selanne said his goodbyes to the NHL in May when the Anaheim Ducks exited the Stanley Cup playoffs. He did the leave the door open a smidge to continue playing, but only as a member of his boyhood club, Jokerit, now in the KHL.

"I can think about it as long as I want, if I still find motivation to play," Selanne said in August. "Playing in Jokerit is tempting, that's for sure. We'll see."

But sadly, there won’t be any sort of video from Selanne announcing “one more season."

From the IIHF via MTV3 in Finland:

“My career is over, that much is certain. It’s been nice to lead a life without any schedules, and there’s no place for (playing) hockey in that,” said the 44-year-old.

“I’ve seen a couple of Ducks games this season, but a lot more of my sons’ games,” he added.

Via Juha Hiitela, the Finnish Flash was reportedly offered $10 million USD to join Jokerit and $5 million USD to play in only home games. But Selanne is at peace with his son's hockey careers taking up most of his time now compared to his own.

Aside from the family time, Selanne has kept busy by destroying Bruce Boudreau in his new book, “Sel8nne,” and announcing plans to open a multi-sport complex in Finland shaped in the number eight, as well as starting up a hockey academy.

We now will place "Teemu Forever" on pause for three years until his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame where he’ll be enshrined, forever.
