Steven Stamkos, offensive dynamo, scores go-ahead own-goal for Sabres (Video)

Steven Stamkos scored the overtime winner for the Tampa Bay Lightning in their 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres, which really only makes sense. For one thing, he's the best goal-scorer on the planet, so he's a safe bet to score pretty much any time he's on the ice.

But for another thing, he sort of owed the Bolts a goal. The only reason this game was in overtime in the first place is that Stamkos scored the Sabres' third goal midway through the third period. Look at this fabulous bank pass to nobody:

Poor Stamkos. He sees an empty net and he just finishes. The poor guy can't help himself.

Ben Bishop was at the bench because Buffalo about to be called for a delayed penalty, with Mike Weber headed off for cross-checking. The guy that drew the penalty? Stamkos, of course.

Conacher was the last Sabre to touch the puck, so he got the goal, and proved definitively that taking a penalty is a viable means of creating offence. (Frankly, it's probably about as good as anything else the Sabres have tried this year.)

The Lightning got it back pretty quickly. Ryan Callahan scored on the ensuing powerplay, assisted by Stamkos.

Stamkos's overtime winner was a powerplay goal as well, as Drew Stafford was serving a two-minute minor for hooking -- you guessed it -- Stamkos. The dude was everywhere Saturday night. So much so he scored a goal for the other team.
