10:54 p.m. ET: Did the Penguins take their foot off the gas? Overall shot attempts are 49-38 in favor of the Penguins after three periods.
10:53 p.m. ET: The boxscore through regulation.
10:49 p.m. ET: The Sharks had several chances near the end of that period but couldn't convert. Joel Ward had a few in front of Matt Murray. We go to overtime in Game 2. The Penguins have been the better team but couldn't put the Sharks away.
10:42 p.m. ET: Justin Braun point shot, puck goes in. We're tied at 1-1. Joel Ward and Joonas Donskoi with the screens. Braun is playing with a heavy heart. He will attend the funeral of his father in-law, former NHL player Tom Lysiak tomorrow.
10:40 p.m. ET: Shots are now 5-5 in the third period. The Sharks have been totally overmatched this game but still hanging in there down 1-0 thanks to Martin Jones.
10:36 p.m. ET: Joe Thornton is getting feisty with Sidney Crosby.

10:31 p.m. ET: With 8:21 left in the third period, Chris Kunitz fired the Penguins first shot on goal this frame. The Sharks only have four shots on goal.
10:29 p.m. ET: Midway through the third period and the Penguins don't have a shot on goal. The Sharks only have three.
10:26 p.m. ET: This sums up the story of Game 2 so far.
PIT-SJS is the most lopsided 1-0 game I can recall since CAN-USA in Sochi.
— Michael Farber (@MichaelFarber3) June 2, 2016
10:23 p.m. ET: The shot attempts are currently 42-29 in favor of the Penguins.
10:19 p.m. ET: Chris Tierney with arguably the best scoring chance for the Sharks this game. Just fired the puck off the goalpost. Score still 1-0 Penguins. Even though the Penguins have outplayed the Sharks, San Jose has hit a lot of posts. Two by Tomas Hertl now this chance.

10:16 p.m. ET: The Sharks have moved Patrick Marleau to the third-line. Not a bad decision. It gives San Jose more speed down their lineup. Will this move pay off?
10:15 p.m. ET: Brent Burns is a vision. This is from warmups.

10:13 p.m. ET: The Penguins have killed that Sharks power play. San Jose has been totally neutralized this game.
10:12 p.m. ET: The third period has started! Can the Sharks tie this game up?
10:09 p.m. ET: Crosby has been Pittsburgh's best all-around forward this series. No points this game but has done a lot of other little things well.
Crosby has won 80% of his draws through two periods.
— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) June 2, 2016
10:04 p.m. ET: NBC's Mike Milbury, Keith Jones and Ed Olczyk are trying to make a case for some line changes with the Sharks. One that may make sense is dropping Marleau to the third-line at center. That could add speed further down the lineup to combat Pittsburgh. Sharks coach Peter DeBoer has been hesitant to shift around Marleau since the second-round, but this may be time do make the switch.
10:03 p.m. ET: The offensive shot attempts chart from War on Ice. As you can see, the Penguins are beating the Sharks badly in this regard.
9:53 p.m. ET: End of two periods and the Penguins hold a 1-0 lead.
9:50 p.m. ET: Ian Cole with an offensive zone penalty. Life for the Sharks. Drawn by Logan Couture. Interference.
9:45 p.m. ET: The Sharks need a power play to get some momentum. But the Penguins have such a speed advantage. It's hard to get power plays when the other team is faster.
9:41 p.m. ET: Tough to win when you're losing the shots battle.
Sharks outshot 61-35 in series so far. Didn't see that coming.

9:39 p.m. ET: The second period shot attempts chart.
9:36 p.m. ET: Sharks coach Peter DeBoer was interviewed by NHL on NBC analyst Pierre McGuire. DeBoer was asked how to deal with the Penguins' speed.
"We’ve got to spend more time in their end," DeBoer said. "We’re one and out too quick."
9:31 p.m. ET: Paul Martin high sitcking penalty. Penguins to another power play.
9:30 p.m. ET: That HBK line is so quick strike. Roman Polak with the turnover to Phil Kessel and the Penguins score first. The goal was Kessel's 10th of the playoffs and came at the 8:20 mark. Score is 1-0 Penguins.
9:28 p.m. ET: NHL on NBC analyst Pierre McGuire points out the Sharks want the Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Sidney Crosby matchup this game. Both played against each other a lot in junior and Vlasic was known to relish his games against Crosby.
9:26 p.m. ET: Two posts this game so far for Tomas Hertl. So close to giving the Sharks a much-needed lead. They still haven't led this Final.

9:24 p.m. ET: Martin Jones had a great save on Matt Cullen early in the second period. Looked like Jones fell back into his net to make the stop. He has been San Jose's best player so far this series.

9:22 p.m. ET: NHL on NBC analyst Ed Olczyk says "The Penguins have really dictated the terms" so far this series. San Jose has looked nothing like the team we saw in three rounds prior and that has a lot to do with the Penguins and their speed.
9:21 p.m. ET: Least valuable players thus far? Pierre Racicot and Brian Murphy, your linesman for this evening. Some mighty questionable icing calls, many of them against the Penguins. The perils of no-touch judgment calls. - WYSHYNSKI
9:19 p.m. ET: After taking that shoulder to the head in Game 1, Bryan Rust has played 4:22 and 0 shots on goal so far this game.
9:15 p.m. ET: The second period has started. Can the Sharks get anything going against these speedy Pens?
9:10 p.m. ET: The Penguins have outshot the Sharks 26-10 in the first periods of the Cup FInal. Martin Jones was considered a weak link for the Sharks coming into this series, but he's the main reason why San Jose is still in this game. He also got some help from his buddy, the goalpost.

9:03 p.m. ET: Well, that was fun. Penguins end the first with 11 shots on goal and 11 more attempted shots. (Aided by the lone power play in the period.) The Sharks had 16 shot attempts, led by Brent Burns with five.
San Jose has to be happy. First, for not getting skated out of the building like they were in the first period of Game 1. But also for doing strong work in the neutral zone and the top of their own zone to short circuit Penguins rushes. Their problem continues to be zone exits. There were at least four occasions when failing to get a simple clear resulted in the Penguins get the puck deep and generating chances.
The third line, with Matt Nieto on it, played much better. The Joe Thornton line was their best.
The Penguins have to be happy, too, because their speed is still causing turnovers for the Sharks. They’re winning loose puck battles with that speed, too. Sidney Crosby had a strong first, including one shift when he generated two good chances on his own. The HBK Line was dangerous too, with three Phil Kessel shots.
A period for hockey nerds, filled with smart little plays all over the ice. But no goals. Sorry, casuals. - WYSHYNSKI
9:02 p.m. ET: Here's the shot attempts chart for the first period from War on Ice. Overall attempts are 22-17 in favor of the Penguins.
9:00 p.m. ET: The Sharks got away with a too many men penalty at the end of the first. Could have been disastrous for them.

8:57 p.m. ET: End of the first period with the score tied at 0-0. Sharks had a nice flurry at the end, but really were dominated.
8:49 p.m. ET: Not good for the Sharks' captain. Seems like Joe Thornton has been taking fewer faceoffs since taking a slash on his hand in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final, which has forced Joe Pavelski into the dot more.
Pavelski 0-for-5 on draws so far. #StanleyCupFinal

8:46 p.m. ET:The shot attempts chart so far in the first period. Wide disparity between the Penguins and Sharks.
8:43 p.m. ET: Penguins head to the power play after Paul Martin shoots the puck over the glass. Great pressure by Pittsburgh to force Martin on that play.
8:42 p.m. ET: What a gorgeous feed by Sidney Crosby. Between-the-legs. He's been on his game this series.

8:40 p.m. ET: Penguins coach Mike Sullivan says the Sharks are trying to keep the gaps tight in order to combat Pittsburgh's speed. Says his team is trying to create foot races all over the ice.
8:38 p.m. ET: The Penguins are starting to pour it on. A great shift by the Malkin line where Chris Kunitz rang a shot of the post has tilted the ice in their favor. Shots are 7-3 for Pitt currently midway through the first.
8:33 p.m. ET: NBC points out the Sharks tend to play well after losses. They've only lost consecutive games once 19 games played this postseason.

8:10 p.m. ET: The website Scouting the Refs breaks down the Game 2 officials, Wes McCauley and Kelly Sutherland. Linesmen are Biran Murphy and Pierre Racicot.
7:54 p.m. ET: Bryan Rust is warming up with Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz. One lineup change for the Sharks, as Matt Nieto is in for Dainius Zubrus, but is skating on the third line with Chris Tierney and Joel Ward. Melker Karlsson drops down to the fourth line. Smart move here, potentially, by DeBoer – both lines could use a shot in the arm. - WYSHYNSKI
7:53 p.m. ET: Greg Wyshynski and Sean Leahy break down the keys to Game 1!
7:47 p.m. ET: Looks like Pittsburgh forward Bryan Rust is in the lineup. He left Game 1 with an upper body injury after a Patrick Marleau check got Rust in the head. Marleau received a 2-minute minor for illegal check to the head.
