Serbia's Marko Milovanovic falls in world's worst shootout attempt (Video)

The IIHF Division II Group A World Championships were recently held in Reykjavik, Iceland. They seem like a great event to cover with thousands of screaming, adoring fans.

Wait, no ... maybe it's more like an empty arena. But it did have the world's worst shootout attempt.

Marko Milovanovic got his legs churning, he was moving for about half a second … and then fell on his tummy, creating an easy save for Spanish goaltender Ignacio Garcia in Iceland’s 4-3 win over Spain.

It’s still no Dennis Wideman … which is the gold standard for horrible shootout attempts.

A couple of wonderful elements to note here, beyond the shootout attempt. For one, isn’t it great that we can see Spain’s hockey team in action in this video? If we could only hear the Spanish announcer go “goooooooooaaaaaaaaallllll” when Spain scored. Those jerseys look sick. I want one.

Also, Iceland is not the hockey hotbed we were told of in “D2: The Mighty Ducks.” One day, the country will produce a Gunnar Stahl-like hockey savior.
