In Russia, they play hockey on aircraft carriers (or at least that’s the plan)

Last November, the U.S.S. Carl Vinson was transformed into a floating NCAA basketball court for Michigan State and North Carolina. Which is by far the coolest thing that's ever happened on the U.S.S. Carl Vinson, if you don't count that 1980s hair band-themed officers' happy hour, and transporting the lifeless body of Osama bin Laden to his burial at sea.

Perhaps inspired by this aquatic ballin', HC VMF St. Petersburg of the Major League Hockey (or VHL in Russia), the minor league for the Kontinental Hockey League, plans on holding a regular-season game on the deck of a Russian aircraft carrier next season.

From Russia Today:

"We think it would be great to justify the club's name and organize a match at the warship, anchored in the Gulf of Finland. We could construct an ice rink right at the top and play hockey," said the league's managing director German Skoropupov says shared the idea with the Sport Express paper.

"Of course, it would be very difficult to do, and even if we succeed there would be another problem — the weather in St. Petersburg has never been predictable. But since we managed to cope with that in Krasnoyarsk during the Winter Classic we will do the same with the Baltic winds," said Skoropupov.

This is cool and all, but call us when they play a game on the Helicarrier. Because Natalia Romanoff will be there, obviously.
