Rangers’ Mats Zuccarello returning from Olympics with broken hand

While Norway lost their Olympic qualification round game to Russia on Tuesday, one of their star players, Mats Zuccarello, watched with his left hand in a wrap.

Norway was a eliminated and before Zuccarello leaves to return to his NHL side, the New York Rangers, an MRI was performed that showed a non-displaced fracture in his hand. He's expected to be re-evaluated on Thursday, the team confirmed.

Zuccarello joins Tomas Kopecky, Aleksander Barkov and Henrik Zetterberg as NHLers who suffered injuries while representing their country in Sochi.

The Rangers' first game after the Olympic break is Feb. 27 at home against the Chicago Blackhawks. Zuccarello is currently tied for second on the team with 15 goals and leads all Rangers in points with 43.
