Five things to know about tonight's NHL games ...

1. Doug Armstrong's thoughts on Max Lapierre's hit on Dan Boyle. Lapierre had his in-person hearing with the NHL Friday afternoon. His general manager accompanied him for support, telling reporters, “To me, it looked like a hockey play that went awry at the end." Lapierre, as you know, was suspended five games.

2. Evander Kane's leg injury isn't serious. Kane tweaked his knee at practice on Wednesday sending the media into a tizzy. But fear not, it's not a big deal. He skated with Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler during Friday's morning skate and is expected to be in the lineup.

3. Ducks flying, except on the power play. Anaheim is off to a fine 5-1-0 start to the season. But their power play could use some turning around. The Ducks are 1-for-23 (4.4-percent) and dead last in the NHL with the extra man. They finished fourth overall last season.

4. Coyotes looking for fourth straight road win. Led by Rob Klinkhammer's three goals in two games, Phoenix sits just behind the Ducks in the Pacific Division standings.

5. Niklas Kronwall/Dan Boyle update. Not related to any games tonight, but Kronwall suffered a "mild" concussion from the Cody McLeod hit Thursday night. (How can a brain injury be "mild"?) Red Wings GM Ken Holland said the defenseman is day-to-day and hasn't been ruled out for Saturday's game versus Phoenix. Meanwhile, Boyle's agent says he feels "great" and is remember everything from the game against the Blues and hasn't experienced any headaches since.
