Olympic Three Stars: Hiller shuts out Czechs; Oshie’s shootout heroics

Sports photography is awesome.

No. 1 Star: Jonas Hiller, Switzerland

Hiller continued his stellar tournament with a 26-save shutout as the Swiss beat the Czech Republic 1-0. Simon Bodenmann's goal in the first period was more than enough. It was Hiller's second shutout of the tournament and helped Switzerland finish second in Group C behind Sweden. Hiller has stopped all 47 shots he's faced.

No. 2 Star: T.J. Oshie, U.S.A.

Oshie was the American hero during their 3-2 win over Russia. He didn't play much in regulation or overtime (9:38), but the forward scored four times on six chances in the shootout to give the U.S. the victory. Jonathan Quick made 29 saves in regulation and overtime and stopped three more in the shootout. The U.S. faces Slovenia on Sunday with a bye into the quarterfinal the prize with a victory.

No. 3 Star: Pavel Datsyuk, Russia

Datsyuk scored twice in regulation and once in the shootout in a losing effort for Russia. He also created a shorthanded chance in overtime intercepting a cross-ice feed in Russia's defensive zone.

Honorable mention: Three third period goals in the span of six minutes helped Slovenia beat Slovakia 3-1 for the country's first ever Olympic victory. Robert Kristan made 27 saves and Anze Kopitar scored his first goal of the tournament. Kopitar also won 15 of his 20 face-offs ... Ondrej Pavelec stopped 25 shots in another strong outing after not even dressing in Game 1 ... Daniel Sedin, Erik Karlsson, Daniel Alfredsson, Jakob Silfverberg and Alex Edler each recorded two points as Sweden downed Latvia 5-3 to win Group C. Karlsson leads all scorers with five points and is tied for first with Jeff Carter and Michael Grabner with three goals.

Did you know? Sweden's win ensures they will be no lower than the no. 2 overall seed heading into the elimination round.

Dishonorable mention: Alex Radulov's two penalties resulted in a pair of power play goals for the U.S. ... Finland's Aleksander Barkov will miss the rest of the tournament with a knee injury ... Slovenian defenseman Sabahudin Kovacevic will have a hearing for a hit on Tomas Kopecky.
