NHL Three Stars: Toews tricks Senators; Kessel, Reimer lead Leafs over Oilers

No. 1 Star: Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks

Toews had a huge night in the Blackhawks 6-5 comeback win over the Ottawa Senators. He picked up an assist early, but the Chicago captain really came alive just after Ottawa made it 4-2, scoring the next three goals in the game to give the Blackhawks a lead they wouldn't relinquish just before the halfway mark of the third. An incredible performance from Captain Serious:

No. 2 Star: Phil Kessel, Toronto Maple Leafs

Kessel was in on all four goals in the Leafs' 4-0 rout of the Edmonton Oilers, scoring twice, including an early one at 1:08, and setting up another two. Rough start for the Oilers here:

No. 3 Star: James Reimer, Toronto Maple Leafs

But don't let the four-goal difference fool you. Reimer was fantastic in this one, stopping a whopping 43 shots en route to the shutout.

Honorable mention: Carey Price made 26 saves and Rene Bourque scored the game-winner in a 2-1 Montreal Canadiens win over the Dallas Stars... Cal Clutterbuck got his first as a member of the New York Islanders, but the New York Rangers scored twice in the third to rally from behind for a 3-2 victory... Jaromir Jagr became the NHL's all-time leader in game-winning goals with his second-period tally to give the New Jersey Devils a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning... Alexander Steen's 11th of the season was the difference as the St. Louis Blues triumphed over the Winnipeg Jets, 3-2. It's a shame Blake Wheeler's goal, the product of some great hand-eye, came in a losing effort:

Mike Smith stopped 41 of 42 to help the Phoenix Coyotes beat the Los Angeles Kings, 3-1... Nick Palmieri scored twice in the third period to rally the Anaheim Ducks past the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2.

Did You Know? Teemu Selanne lost several teeth and has a swollen jaw after taking a Luke Schenn stick to the mouth.

Dishonorable mention: Sam Gagner had a rough return to the Oilers' lineup. The centre was on the ice for all four goals against, as was Nail Yakupov... Shame on you, Luke Schenn. Teemu Selanne is a treasure. A TREASURE.
